Perhaps the IACUC should contact Dr. Bigdolah's chair, Dr. Lyons, and ask that she suspend Dr. Bigdolah's PI privileges on the project.    Would this be a good solution?

Dr. Bigdolah's chair might do this, but does the chair have the authority?

Dr. Lyons, the chair, also has a potential conflict of interest because Dr. Bigdolah brings substantial financial resources to the department and pays the salaries of 2 other physician researchers and 5 technical staff people.

The potential conflict of interest is present because it is not in the best interest of the chair or the Department to have this activity suspended.
