  • After discussion of the issues and thoughtful deliberation, the IACUC should vote on a motion to suspend the protocol. 
     
  • The IACUC chair should excuse anyone from the meeting with a potential conflict of interest or commitment regarding the research or the research team prior to the deliberations and the vote. 

What would be considered a potential conflict of interest (CoI) warranting recusal from the discussion?

  • If the IACUC suspends the protocol, only the IACUC can reverse the suspension when the Committee is satisfied that safeguards and oversight is in place to assure  that the work can continue on, in compliance with all Federal regulations and policies to the highest ethical standards.

If two people at the convened emergency meeting indicated that they had a CoI, would this affect the process?
