Essentials for IACUC Members - Refresher Course
Investigations of Non-compliance - Continue
Under Dr. Fox's leadership, the subcommittee conducts the interviews and reviews all of the documentation. They meet one more time to discuss the final report to the IACUC and their recommendations to the IACUC to remove the suspension. Dr. Fox writes a summary document from the subcommittee meeting minutes.
What should be included in the final report?
Dr. Fox sends the draft document to all members of the subcommittee for their review and approval. When all members of the committee are satisfied that the report accurately reflects the views of the subcommittee, Dr. Fox then submits the vetted report to Dr. Bahr, the chair of the IACUC for review at the next duly constituted meeting.
Several days later at the next dully constituted IACUC meeting, Dr. Bahr asks Dr. Fox to make a report to the IACUC. Dr. Fox makes the report. Dr. Bahr thanks Dr Fox and asks the full IACUC if there are any questions, comments and concerns. A discussion ensues.
Has the chair taken the appropriate action here?
The subcommittee has done its work. Shouldn't the chair just call for an up or down vote to accept the subcommittee's report?
